Digestive enzymes are produced in the gastrointestinal tract and contribute to the breakdown of food into individual nutrients. The micronutrients are then absorbed by the intestinal walls and enter the circulation. Abnormal production and function of digestive enzymes is accompanied by insufficient absorption of essential micronutrients. Unabsorbed food debris remains in the large intestine, being fermented by bacteria in the intestinal flora causing gas production, satiety, and diarrhea.

Normal production of digestive enzymes decreases during both normal aging and periods of illness.

Digestizyme provides a wide range of plant enzymes, which help digest proteins, fats and carbohydrates. The advantage of enzymes of plant origin is that the quality is guaranteed and the possibility of contamination is significantly reduced, compared to those derived from animal sources. Plant enzymes are characterized by high bioavailability and significantly reduced likelihood of causing hypersensitivity reactions and gastrointestinal disorders.
